NOFO Language
Recipients investing in emergency communications must describe how activities align to the SCIP; as well as coordinate with their Statewide Interoperability Coordinator (SWIC) and/or Statewide Interoperability Governance Body (SIGB) when developing an emergency communications investment prior to submission to ensure the project supports the statewide strategy and is compatible and interoperable with surrounding systems.
Interpretation
While NG911 is not specifically mentioned, recipients may integrate NG911 efforts into emergency communications activities that focus on responding to mass casualty incidents or catastrophic events and acts of terrorism. Investments in mobile and portable electronic countermeasure systems, specialized communications devices for point-to-point communications, and cybersecurity projects, may overlap with NG911 implementation.
